Chinese scientists have studied the ability to overcome the body's resistance to the effects of insulin at the gene level.
One of the main causes of insulin resistance is known to be obesity. Resistance to exposure to insulin occurs at the cellular level. Cells do lose their sensitivity to the hormone at some point. The pancreas, which produces insulin, can function normally in this case.
Most often this state is observed in people with overweight and susceptibility to hypertension. Unfortunately, in most cases, insulin resistance remains undiagnosed until the onset of the metabolic syndrome.
Until now, the mechanism of the onset of insulin resistance was considered to be poorly studied. Hence the high relevance of the problem in a study conducted by Chinese scientists. A brief summary of their work here.
